Course Outline

Four Trimesters Active Birth Antenatal Classes for multiples is a full antenatal programme consisting of six sessions, each lasting three hours. Classes are deliberately kept small to allow for better group interaction.

Class 1: Pregnancy 1

•  Types of Multiples
•  Birth mapping: What is your goal in this pregnancy and birth?
•  Prenatal bonding and emotions during pregnancy
•  Introduction to mind-body connection, using Relaxation and Visualization
techniques
•  Nutrition for two or more
•  Exercise
•  Common discomforts in pregnancy and how to deal with them

Class 2: Pregnancy 2

•  Making an informed choice
•  High risk pregnancies: Prenatal Testing & Pregnancy complications
•  Dealing with losses
•  Mind-Body connection: Relaxation and Visualization techniques to carry babies to full term
•  Fear release

Class 3: Birth 1

•  Writing a birth plan and your birth options: Vaginal Birth versus Cesarean
•  Normal physiology of labor and what to expect
•  Pain relief options and how to cope with labor with non-pharmaceutical methods
•  Prematured Labor and your options, when to go to hospital
•  Prematured babies, NICU & Kangeroo care
•  Deeper Relaxation and Visualisation

Class 4: Birth 2

•  Cesarean and what to expect?
•  Your birth plan and finding a supportive caregiver
•  Decision-making & role-playing
•  Relaxation and Birth Visualization

Class 5: Breastfeeding

•  Breastfeeding for multiples
•  Breastfeeding and going back to work
•  Breastfeeding affirmations, Relaxation and Visualization

Class 6: The Fourth Trimester

•  Coping with Multiples: Time management, organization and planning!
•  Getting support
•  Postpartum care
