| "I
gave birth last Saturday, 2 Sept 2006 (two days before my
EDD) at 10.51am :) to our baby boy, Der Nen. He weighed in
at 2890g and was 47cm "tall".
It was
a good day because I had just fully recovered from a bout
of food poisoning the week before. As the days crept closer
to my EDD (4/9/06), I was actually quite worried of crossing
it as Dr Chua did say that if I didn't deliver a week after
my EDD, we need to consider inducing... (no!!!!!)
My birth
story can be found on the blog Perng Fey created...
http://der-nen.blogspot.com
That's
the extended version! Here's the short version...!
4.00am
: woken up by surges that felt different somehow
4.40am
: woke PF up and we started timing and recording the surges
6.30am
: made our way to TMC coz I felt some leakage
6.50am
: arrived at delivery ward, changed into hospital gown and
did urine test
7.00am
: brought to delivery room 8, VE showed 2cm dilation, surges
still bearable, using slow breathing and listening to rainbox
relaxation, changed into my own nightgown
9.00am
: surges had been getting more intense, requested VE which
showed dilation hadn't progressed, still 2cm!! paced up and
down delivery room, hoping that will help
10.00am
: surges getting more and more intense, getting really difficult
to relax and breathe slowly, PF trying very hard to keep me
calm and on track, really really trying my best, but not easy!!
10.10am
: waterbag burst!! surges got more intense after that!! called
for nurses and doctor, felt urge to push
10.15am
: nurse wanted to do CTG check, bargained down to a 2-contraction
check, really really want to push
10.30am
: doc arrives and says can start pushing, fully dilated!!
(2cm at 9am and 10cm at 10.30am... very fast!!)
10.51am
: Baby Der Nen is born :) Our baby is here!!
Thanks
Ginny, for all your help, encouragement and good advice. I
must say, for a first birth, and contrary to what SO MANY
people say about first births lasting FOREVER, mine was really
speedy and quick! No epidural, no gas, no episiotomy! I tore
about 3cm and am still quite sore now, but all that disappears
when I look at Der Nen.
My milk
production has been good. On average, I pump about 100-120ml
each time. Not bad I think!!
Thanks
again Ginny!"
