26 Apr 05

3.00am
Had 6 contractions of 20mins apart, stay await to time contractions

4.30am
Contractions gets 10mins apart, continue to time it till it gets closer. This time, Alex was awaken too!

5am
Contractions were like 5 mins apart, decided to go for a shower & get ready for admission

5.30am
Still managed to fixed Alex & myself breakfast, only stop what I was doing when contractions came, holding to kitchen top to concentrate on each contractions.

5.45am
dd was awaken, after my breakfast, I accompany her. By this time, I was already in all fours position while coping with each contraction.

6.30am
We bid goodbye to dd and set off to Mt Alvernia. I was at the back seat, in all fours position all the way till we reached.

7.00am
Reached hospital, parked the car. Alex & I slowly walked to the reception area. A security asked if I need a wheelchair, I insisted to walk.

7.10am
After settled down in room 9, Alex went away for about 20mins to register me. While I did a CTG for abt 5mins, also had a VE which showed 7cm dilated. I asked them if they have my birth plan, unfortunately, they couldn't find their copy. So I pass them mine. At same time, I asked if I could birth on the floor, not on the bed.

7.20am
I had a 2 nd CTG for 15mins as the 1 st one could not tell much info. Another nurse, who will be with me while I birth brought in a small mattress for me to birth on fours.

8.00am
I had sensation to pass motion, so I ask Alex to accompany to the toilet.

8.30am
Sensation to push gets stronger and I had a 2 nd VE done, it shows 8cm with contractions.

After this, I lost track of the timing as I was concentrating to push, I was relieve when seeing Dr Paul changing his boots (I did not see his face) as I know I would be in good care. By this time, I was in kneeling position hugging Alex who was sitting on the stool, with each contractions, he massaged my thighs & reminded me to blow downwards instead of upwards. While pushing, I felt the burning sensation & I knew I have to work harder to push the baby out. I had difficulty getting a real long push. so I changed my breath quickly to have a longer push in order to get the bb out. Then I heard a voice to tell me keep my mouth close and not to make noise when I push. I followed through.

cutting the ambilical cord9.46am
Finally, the bb was out, Paul got him & asked if I want to hold the baby, I said yes, & they helped me to turn over my body to sit on the floor, immediately, I latched the boy. (Susan, the Assisted Director of MAH was around while I birth. She helped us took pix for the bb once he was out.) Paul was patiently waiting for the cord to stop pulsating b4 he clamped and Alex cut it. I was then helped to the bed. I asked Paul how was my tear & he took a look & said just a little that needed only 1 stitch. After he stitched, I saw him fishing out my plancenta. When he was done, he congratulated us & said would visit me the next morning about 6.45am. Soon after, everyone left us alone to bond with the new addition.
